Do we need traditions?

🇮🇹 BRUSA LA VECIA? PAN E VIN?

🇬🇧 Brusa la Vecia and Panevin (first two pictures), a tradition of my region in the Northeast of Italy. The night between 5th and 6th of January, people gather around huge piles of brushwood, hay and dry lumber, they set fire and they celebrate.. something.
Certainly an old tradition for us. But I wonder, would it be uphold if those fires that are burning the planet were spreading around the area?
Traditions.
People are dying trying to prevent the fires, and others light them up for fun. Not different or less disrespectful than wasting food while people are starving somewhere else in my silly opinion.
Worst thing is, I know already I will receive critics for this post but it’s never too late to change your mind!
Mh, actually, it might.
PS: same same for all those New Year Eve fireworks folks!

Last image from my friend @joe_bijoba : this is how the sky looks like these days in Aukland, New Zealand, a couple of THOUSANDS KILOMETRES far from Eastern states of Australia. Looks like something from a scifi movie but it's not.

“Puffins on fire” to catch you attention.
